Cape Cod, Cod Fishing

When you think of fishing in Cape Cod, one of the first fish that comes to mind is its namesake: the Cod. Cod fishing is a time-honored tradition in Massachusetts, and a fun target species for a charter fishing trip.  Cod is a very popular food fish, with tender, delicately flavored meat.

Cod is a common catch from spring to fall off of Cape Cod, so be prepared to stock your cooler!  The waters off of Provincetown up to Stellwagen Bank offer up some of the best cod fishing in the world. The currents in these waters drive an upwelling of nutrient-rich water from the ocean bottom, feeding rich blooms of phytoplankton and attracting large numbers of cod and other fish species.  When we land on the cod, be prepared to keep busy. The cod fishing can be fantastic, and lots of fun.  Cod caught off the coast of Cape Cod can range in size from 6 pounds up to 25 pounds or more.

Cod can be caught by jigging or by live bait, and we use whatever method the occasion calls for. Provincetown is located very near prime cod fishing grounds, so it is one of the best locations on Cape Cod for a cod fishing charter. Less time traveling to the fish means more time catching them.
